Alberto Plumbing handles the full range of residential gas piping work in Pflugerville — from a leaking fitting at your gas dryer to a new gas line installed for a standby generator or outdoor kitchen. All work is permitted, pressure tested, and covered by Texas Master Plumber license M-39647.

  • Gas piping repair — leaking fittings, corroded pipe sections, damaged CSST
  • Flexible gas connector replacement at stoves, dryers, and water heaters
  • Gas shutoff valve replacement
  • Gas leak detection using electronic combustible gas detectors and pressure testing
  • Gas pressure testing — standalone inspections and post-repair certification
  • New gas line installation for ranges, dryers, outdoor kitchens, generators, fireplaces, and pool heaters

If you smell gas or suspect a leak, leave the building and call 911 first, then call us at (512) 429-6933 once the scene is cleared. For non-emergency gas work, same-day appointments are typically available.

Gas piping in Pflugerville homes: what's in your walls

Pflugerville's housing stock spans four decades of construction, and the type of gas piping varies significantly by when your home was built.

Homes in the older parts of Pflugerville — the historic downtown area, Bohls Place, neighborhoods along FM 1825, and properties predating the early 1990s — were built with black iron pipe. Black iron is durable and long-lasting, but threaded fittings can corrode over decades, particularly in areas with higher humidity. An inspection is worthwhile if your iron-piped home hasn't had gas work done in 15+ years.

Newer Pflugerville developments — Avalon, Stone Hill, Springbrook, Highland Park, Verona, and the master-planned communities that expanded along TX-130 — are largely CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing). CSST installed before 2007 may not have the bonding and grounding required by current code, which is an important safety consideration. Alberto Plumbing can inspect CSST bonding and update it where needed.

Regardless of pipe type, all Pflugerville homes share one vulnerability: flexible gas connectors at appliances. These braided stainless connectors at your range, dryer, and water heater have a service life of 5–10 years and are frequently overlooked. If your connectors are original to the appliances, replacement is inexpensive insurance.

Gas leak detection and pressure testing in Pflugerville

Alberto Plumbing uses electronic combustible gas detectors and pressure drop testing to find gas leaks — including slow leaks that are too small to smell. A pressure drop test pressurizes the gas system with air and monitors for pressure loss over a timed period, isolating any section of the system that isn't holding.

Gas pressure tests are required by code after any gas repair or new installation. They're also commonly requested for:

  • Home purchase inspections — gives buyers objective verification of gas piping condition
  • After renovation or construction work that may have disturbed gas lines
  • Annual safety checks in older Pflugerville homes with original iron pipe
  • After reconnecting gas service following a shutoff

Alberto Plumbing performs pressure tests as standalone services and as part of all repair and installation work. Call (512) 429-6933 to schedule an inspection.

New gas line installation in Pflugerville

Adding a gas line — for a new appliance or an outdoor feature — is one of the most common projects Alberto Plumbing handles in Pflugerville. Popular Pflugerville gas line installations include:

  • Standby generators — demand surged after the February 2021 freeze. A whole-home generator requires a dedicated gas line sized for the generator's BTU rating, plus a proper shutoff and pressure test before it's connected to the generator installer.
  • Outdoor kitchens and built-in grills — Pflugerville's newer neighborhoods have a high concentration of outdoor living additions. A permanent gas connection is safer and more convenient than propane tanks.
  • Kitchen range upgrades — converting from electric to gas, or connecting a new gas range in a kitchen that already has gas to the wall.
  • Gas dryers — converting laundry rooms from electric dryer service to gas.
  • Gas fireplaces and fire pits — both indoor gas log sets and outdoor fire features require a dedicated gas supply line.

Every installation includes a permit, a pressure test, and scheduling the required inspection with the City of Pflugerville. Call (512) 429-6933 to get an estimate for your project.

Alberto did a great job at replacing my exterior spigot. No more leaking spigot at a fair price.

Had an unexpected leak that could only be stopped by shutting off the main water valve. Was worried we’d be left without water over the weekend. Came out same day, quickly identified the problem and fixed all within a few hours. Highly recommend.

Incredibly professional and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable. Our pipe burst and he was there the next day early in the morning. Water came back and the pressure was better than it was before.

2025 UPDATE: Its been 2 years since I've last needed plumbing services and wrote the review below, but this morning at 6am, my water leak detector alerted me of a leak from my water heater. Checked and sure enough, leaking from the bottom of the unit. Called Alberto at 8am and to my surprise, he knew who I was and my address. After asking questions to gauge the urgency, he managed to squeeze me in and showed up 2hrs later. New water heater installed (in the attic which is a PIA) and ready to go not too long after. Will continue going w/ Alberto as my house is starting to show age in the piping Highly HIGLY recommend. Needed someone out to check a gas leak on my water heater. Called big plumbing company which charged 4 times the amount and tried to upsell like crazy. 2 other independent plumbers did not return my call. Got a referral for Alberto Plumbing and reached out. Was shocked when he offered to come out same day. Came, informed exactly what was going to be done, did it, tested, and good to go. Saved contact for future use.

The short version is that I was getting scammed by a larger corporate plumbing company, and Alberto Plumbing saved me from their bogus work. I got a great quote, and he did the work the right way, unlike the bigger company who was trying to scam me. The work was honest and professional, and he proved that he knows what he's talking about. OK now the long version. I had my foundation repaired, and needed a passing hydrostatic test in order to qualify for the warranty. The foundation company suggested Mr. Rooter, so I call them and they come over and my test fails. They said there was a huge break in the line, and that this is common after foundation work (both true). Then they charged me $960 to detect the leak. I, stupidly, paid them. They found the leak, saying it was beneath my concrete on my front porch (not true). They gave me a quote of $4000 for a sleeve, and $5400 to fix the pipe the right way. I sent them away, saying I need to collect some other opinions. I called two other plumbers. The first guy (not Alberto) comes over, barely checks anything, and gives me a quote for $3500 to break the concrete, or $6000 to excavate underneath the porch. Then I called Alberto Plumbing. He took one look and said it's rare for a break to happen under the porch in a foundation lift like this, and that he thinks it's in the ground next to the house and not even under the porch. So he digs next to the house for less than 10 minutes and boom - there was the break. Not under my porch at all, but in the soil, exactly where he said it was! So the Mr. Rooter guys charged me $960 to incorrectly diagnose my leak (I'm still trying to get my money back from them). Anyway, I had Alberto Plumbing finish the job the right way (replacing the pipe, not sleeving it) for half of what they were asking. He worked fast but not careless, and he informed me of what was happening every step. Can't recommend him enough.
