What drain cleaning includes

Drain cleaning is more than running a snake through a pipe. Alberto Plumbing's drain cleaning service covers every type of residential and light-commercial drain problem:

  • Kitchen drains — grease, food debris, and soap buildup cleared from the P-trap through the main drain stack
  • Bathroom drains — hair and soap clogs in tub, shower, and sink lines
  • Toilet clogs — blockages beyond what a plunger can reach, including foreign objects lodged in the trap
  • Floor drains — utility rooms, garages, and laundry areas where debris accumulates
  • Mainline / sewer line stoppages — when multiple fixtures back up at once, indicating a blockage in the main line between your home and the city tap
  • Hydro-jetting — high-pressure water scouring for stubborn grease buildup, scale, and recurring clogs
  • Camera inspections — a drain camera identifies the exact cause and location before any work begins, so you're never paying to fix the wrong thing

Common warning signs you need a plumber

Some drain issues are obvious — standing water in the shower, a kitchen sink that won't drain at all. Others creep up slowly. Watch for these signs that it's time to call Alberto Plumbing at (512) 429-6933:

  • Water draining noticeably slower than usual in one or more fixtures
  • Gurgling sounds from the toilet when you run the sink
  • Sewage or rotten-egg smell coming from a drain
  • Water backing up into a tub or floor drain when you flush
  • A drain that clogs repeatedly within weeks of being cleared
  • Multiple slow drains throughout the house at the same time

That last item — multiple drains slow at once — almost always means a mainline stoppage, not individual clogs. A mainline backup left untreated can push sewage back into the home, causing significant damage.

Alberto's drain cleaning process

Every drain cleaning call starts with a conversation about what you're seeing and how long it's been happening. From there:

  1. Diagnosis first. Jose or one of his technicians identifies whether the problem is local (one fixture) or system-wide (mainline). A drain camera may be deployed if the cause isn't obvious or if you've been dealing with recurring clogs.
  2. Upfront price. You get a clear, written estimate before any tools come out. No "we'll see what we find" billing.
  3. Right tool for the job. A handheld snake for a simple bathroom clog. A motorized drain auger for deeper kitchen drain buildup. Hydro-jetting for mainline grease or root intrusion. We don't upsize the solution to inflate the bill.
  4. Verify the fix. We run water and confirm full drainage before we pack up. If a camera was needed for diagnosis, we show you the "after" footage so you can see the clear pipe.
  5. Honest next-step advice. If your pipes show signs of root intrusion, corrosion, or a belly that will keep causing backups, we'll tell you — along with your options — rather than leaving you to deal with the same problem in two months.

Central Texas drainage challenges

Pflugerville and the broader North Austin corridor present a few specific drain issues that show up repeatedly in this service area:

Hard water scale. Central Texas water is notoriously hard — mineral content in Pflugerville and Round Rock regularly exceeds 400 mg/L as calcium carbonate. Over time, that calcium and magnesium deposits on the inside walls of drain pipes, narrowing them and creating rough surfaces that catch grease and debris faster. A basic snake punches through the clog but doesn't remove the scale. Hydro-jetting restores the full interior diameter.

Tree root intrusion. The live oaks, cedar elms, and pecans that give Central Texas neighborhoods their character send roots hunting for water — and older sewer lines (clay tile or cast iron) are a reliable source. If your home was built before 1990, root intrusion is worth ruling out with a camera before assuming a repeat clog is just a grease problem.

Slab foundation homes. The vast majority of Pflugerville and Round Rock homes sit on concrete slab foundations. Drain lines run under or embedded in the slab, which means a broken or bellied drain pipe requires either tunneling under the slab or routing a new line — there's no crawl space to work from. Early detection via camera inspection keeps a manageable drain issue from becoming a major excavation job.

Why a licensed Master Plumber matters for drain work

Many drain cleaning calls are handled by unlicensed technicians working for franchise operations or handyman services. That's legal in Texas for simple service-level work, but it creates risk when a drain problem turns out to be a sewer line failure, a venting defect, or a broken pipe under the slab — issues that require a permit and a licensed Master Plumber to repair correctly.

When Alberto Plumbing shows up, Jose A. Vital (Master Plumber M-39647) or a plumber working directly under his license is on your job. If the drain issue reveals something bigger, we can handle the full repair — no handoff to a different company, no starting over with estimates.

Alberto did an excellent job fixing my kitchen sink, which wouldn’t drain no matter what I tried. He was professional, persistent, and didn’t give up when it mattered. The issue turned out to be a heavy grease buildup deep in the drain, and with his drain snake equipment, he was able to clear it after some effort. He also took the time to share helpful preventative tips to avoid the problem in the future. I really appreciated his expertise and would highly recommend him.

We had a block in our front sewer pipe. Jose came out promptly and was able to start working on it quickly. He dug up only the small portion of our front yard where the block was located. He showed us the issue [roots in a cracked pipe of course] and quickly repaired the spot. He then replaced the dirt and left it level and neat. We were very happy with our experience!

He diagnosed the problem correctly before he even saw the blocked pipe, it was due to an AC drain line constantly putting water into our sink pipes. He was quick and seems like an honest person. Will definitely use him again, especially with his reasonable prices

I am recent Customer. Men were both professional & efficient. I was scheduled the next day after I called. Aside from fixing the clogged in my toilet. They also suggested to install a regulator. My home water pressure was high and I have water leak in my house. He saved me from potentially huge (water leak) problem. Highly recommend. Thanks!

I texted late on a Friday evening about a blockage in our home's sewer cleanout (the cap had been broken by pool construction and it filled with dirt and rocks). They were able to come out the next day to evaluate and explain what they would do (not only clean out the debris but expose the pipes to ensure there weren't any cracks/damage). I went forward with their services and within about 2 hours, including time to go to Home Depot for parts they didn't have in the truck, they cleaned out the debris, made the repairs, and filled the dirt back in from where they exposed the pipes (luckily there was no damage). I was so happy to have a quick resolution so we could use our facilities again ;-)

A neighbor recommended him to help with a clogged garbage disposal. It was quick and easy and he had running in no time. Reasonably priced too.

Very corteus technician, he came prepared for covid and follow all of the social distancing rules. He performed a diagnosis on water pressure being low - after some diagnosis on the pipelines, water heater vérification, drainage it turned out to be a regional problem and not much can be done. Very good pricing, affordable and corteus individual.

Alberto’s Plumbing was very helpful and provided me with free support over the phone. My son flushed underwear down the toilet and I was nervous it would back up. Alberto’s returned my phone call within minutes and walked me thru the steps to make sure my toilet was not clogged, all free of charge. Will definitely give Alberto’s Plumbing a call for future plumbing services.

Alberto did all the plumbing on the remodel of my kitchen and bathrooms. There was a lot of work and he did an excellent job including moving the shower drain in the slab foundation for the master bath, updating and installing sink drains, faucets, gas range and everything plumbing related. If I had an emergency, he was here within minutes to address it, including checking the gas on my hot water heater just this morning! I can’t say enough good things about his work other than his prices were quite reasonable as well.

We called Alberto last week to have him come out since our kitchen sink was backing up and we'd tried everything. He came to us in Georgetown that same day and had the clog cleared quickly and was very polite and professional. We highly recommend him!
