Alberto Plumbing handles the full scope of residential gas piping work in Round Rock — from a leaking fitting at a gas appliance to a complete new gas line for an outdoor kitchen or standby generator. All work is permitted, pressure tested, and performed under Texas Master Plumber license M-39647.

  • Gas piping repair — leaking fittings, corroded iron pipe, damaged CSST sections

  • Gas shutoff valve replacement
  • Gas leak detection and location using electronic gas detectors and pressure drop testing
  • Gas pressure testing — post-repair certification and standalone safety inspections
  • New gas line installation — ranges, dryers, generators, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, pool heaters

If you smell gas, leave immediately and call 911 and your gas utility (Atmos Energy: 1-866-322-8667). Once the scene is cleared, call Alberto Plumbing at (512) 429-6933.

Round Rock's gas piping landscape: older iron and newer CSST

Round Rock's rapid growth over three decades means the city has a wide range of gas piping types, with the age of your home being the primary determinant.

Older neighborhoods — the downtown area near Georgetown Street and Mays Street, South Round Rock subdivisions, and homes predating the mid-1990s — were built with black iron pipe. Iron pipe is long-lasting but the threaded connections deserve inspection in homes that are 30+ years old, especially if the home has seen multiple owners or remodeling work that may have stressed fittings.

Newer Round Rock developments — Forest Creek, Teravista, Round Rock Ranch, Chandler Creek, and the communities along US-79 — were largely built with CSST. CSST from the early-to-mid 2000s may predate current bonding and grounding code requirements. If your home was built between 1998 and 2007 and has CSST, an inspection of the bonding is worthwhile.

Flexible appliance connectors — the braided lines at your range, dryer, and water heater — should be replaced every 5–10 years. In homes where the appliances are original to the build, these connectors are frequently overdue.

Gas pressure testing for Round Rock home buyers and owners

A gas pressure test is one of the most practical safety inspections a Round Rock homeowner can commission. Alberto Plumbing pressurizes the gas system with air and monitors for pressure loss, isolating any leaking section. The test is non-destructive, takes under an hour, and produces a clear pass/fail result.

Common reasons Round Rock residents schedule a gas pressure test:

  • Newly purchased homes — particularly older properties where the gas piping history is unknown
  • After renovation work that may have disturbed gas lines
  • Following a gas shutoff and reconnection
  • Periodic safety checks in homes with 30+ year old iron piping
  • Required by code after any gas repair or new installation

Gas line installations in Round Rock: common projects

Alberto Plumbing installs new gas lines in Round Rock for a range of applications. The most common requests we handle in Round Rock:

  • Kitchen range conversions — converting from electric to gas cooking is increasingly popular as Round Rock homeowners renovate kitchens. We assess the existing supply capacity, run the line, and complete the permit.
  • Standby generators — post-2021 freeze, generator installations have been in high demand throughout the north Austin corridor. A whole-home generator requires a dedicated, properly sized gas line.
  • Outdoor kitchens and built-in grills — Round Rock's established neighborhoods have seen a wave of outdoor living additions. Permanent gas connections replace propane tanks with a safer, more convenient solution.
  • Gas dryer conversions — adding gas service to a laundry room previously served by electric only.
  • Gas fireplaces and fire pits — both gas log set installations in existing fireplaces and new outdoor fire features.

All installations are permitted, pressure tested, and inspected. Call (512) 429-6933 for a free estimate on any gas line project in Round Rock.

Alberto did a great job at replacing my exterior spigot. No more leaking spigot at a fair price.

Had an unexpected leak that could only be stopped by shutting off the main water valve. Was worried we’d be left without water over the weekend. Came out same day, quickly identified the problem and fixed all within a few hours. Highly recommend.

Incredibly professional and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable. Our pipe burst and he was there the next day early in the morning. Water came back and the pressure was better than it was before.

2025 UPDATE: Its been 2 years since I've last needed plumbing services and wrote the review below, but this morning at 6am, my water leak detector alerted me of a leak from my water heater. Checked and sure enough, leaking from the bottom of the unit. Called Alberto at 8am and to my surprise, he knew who I was and my address. After asking questions to gauge the urgency, he managed to squeeze me in and showed up 2hrs later. New water heater installed (in the attic which is a PIA) and ready to go not too long after. Will continue going w/ Alberto as my house is starting to show age in the piping Highly HIGLY recommend. Needed someone out to check a gas leak on my water heater. Called big plumbing company which charged 4 times the amount and tried to upsell like crazy. 2 other independent plumbers did not return my call. Got a referral for Alberto Plumbing and reached out. Was shocked when he offered to come out same day. Came, informed exactly what was going to be done, did it, tested, and good to go. Saved contact for future use.

The short version is that I was getting scammed by a larger corporate plumbing company, and Alberto Plumbing saved me from their bogus work. I got a great quote, and he did the work the right way, unlike the bigger company who was trying to scam me. The work was honest and professional, and he proved that he knows what he's talking about. OK now the long version. I had my foundation repaired, and needed a passing hydrostatic test in order to qualify for the warranty. The foundation company suggested Mr. Rooter, so I call them and they come over and my test fails. They said there was a huge break in the line, and that this is common after foundation work (both true). Then they charged me $960 to detect the leak. I, stupidly, paid them. They found the leak, saying it was beneath my concrete on my front porch (not true). They gave me a quote of $4000 for a sleeve, and $5400 to fix the pipe the right way. I sent them away, saying I need to collect some other opinions. I called two other plumbers. The first guy (not Alberto) comes over, barely checks anything, and gives me a quote for $3500 to break the concrete, or $6000 to excavate underneath the porch. Then I called Alberto Plumbing. He took one look and said it's rare for a break to happen under the porch in a foundation lift like this, and that he thinks it's in the ground next to the house and not even under the porch. So he digs next to the house for less than 10 minutes and boom - there was the break. Not under my porch at all, but in the soil, exactly where he said it was! So the Mr. Rooter guys charged me $960 to incorrectly diagnose my leak (I'm still trying to get my money back from them). Anyway, I had Alberto Plumbing finish the job the right way (replacing the pipe, not sleeving it) for half of what they were asking. He worked fast but not careless, and he informed me of what was happening every step. Can't recommend him enough.
